The Magic of Reimagining Dior’s Bar Jacket with a Peruvian Soul

"Dior and I" was the first book I ever read about a designer. I discovered it around 2016 or 2017, and from the very first moment, it captivated me. It wasn’t just a story about fashion; it was a story of sensitivity, of a passion for creating something that transcends time. I felt deeply connected to that vision.

I have always felt a special affinity with Dior. The way Christian Dior transformed emotions into silhouettes, and his vision of fashion as a living art form, resonated deeply with my own way of understanding creation.

Today, many years later, I decided to reinterpret the iconic Bar Jacket, but from my own identity: using a Peruvian textile, vibrant in color, history, and spirit. This piece is not a final product, but rather a prototype, a mock-up, the first heartbeat of a greater idea.
Each stitch carries intention, love, and the desire to honor my roots and my dreams.

I chose to work with a Peruvian fabric because I love experimenting with unexpected combinations, merging worlds that rarely meet. I wanted to blend the best of two heritages: the European tradition of haute couture and the rich craftsmanship of Peru.
For me, it is an honor to weave a piece of my country into this reinterpretation. Peru not only holds one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but also treasures like alpaca and cotton—exclusive materials that deserve to be recognized and celebrated on the international stage.

My message through this creation is clear: let’s dare to explore. Sometimes, the simplest ideas can give birth to the greatest wonders.
I want to invite others to dream, to blend, to create, and to see that luxury and heritage can coexist in perfect harmony.
For me, Dior and Peru form a perfect mix: refined elegance and vibrant authenticity.

I often wonder how Christian Dior would react if he could see this interpretation. I like to imagine him traveling through Peru, discovering its colors, its history, its light.
I envision an exclusive Dior runway show in Arequipa or Cusco, set among majestic landscapes, showcasing to the world an unexpected and powerful fusion.
I can even see it gracing the cover of Vogue: "Dior meets Peru," a tribute to the beauty of the unexpected.

Creating this piece was pure magic.
It was about making tangible something that once lived only in my imagination.
It was a tribute: to Dior, to Peru, and to my journey as a designer and a dreamer.

And this is just the beginning.
